Estimates are in on the dollar amount of the damage done to Hattiesburg Public School District property by the Feb. 10 tornado.

Willie Burton, the district’s director of buildings and grounds, tells the Hattiesburg American it’s between $5 million to $6 million for cleanup and rebuilding.
The district’s transportation center, transportation office, driver training center and bus barn were all damaged by the tornado, as well as 25 of the district’s 27 school buses. There was also damage to the roof, the gym, the baseball stadium and the football field at Hattiesburg High School.
Repairs were started on the high school’s roof under an emergency resolution approved by the school board in February.
