2 Convicted in Motorcycle Theft Ring

Two Ashland, Ky., men face up to 30 years in prison after a federal jury convicted them on charges related to operating a motorcycle theft ring.

After a three-week trial in London, a jury Tuesday convicted 65-five-year-old Richard Meade and 53-year-old Mark Justice.

A third defendant, 64-year-old George Ferguson, was acquitted.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says the ring involved stolen motorcycles from rallies South Carolina, South Dakota and Florida that were then sold them out of car lots in Ashland for between $13,000 and $15,000 apiece.

Six other defendants previously pleaded guilty to their roles in the case.

The FBI and Kentucky State Police identified nearly 200 victims in this case, including the original motorcycle owners and insurance companies.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 24.
