West Virginia Volunteer Fire Department Gets Federal Grant

December 17, 2012

A West Virginia volunteer fire department is getting more than $459,000 in federal support.

U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito says the Teays Valley Volunteer Fire Department is getting the funding through the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response grant program.

Officials say the funding will bring more jobs to West Virginia to meet the increasing demand placed on today’s fire service.

Capito says the funds will allow the department to increase its staff by hiring four new firefighters. She says the additional firefighters will allow the department to continue to provide quick emergency response to the surrounding areas and increase the safety of the current firefighters working at that station.
