Records show that the Kentucky’s 10,000 school buses are involved in hundreds of incidents each year, ranging from major wrecks to simple scrapes with a mailbox.
An Associated Press analysis of state data shows there was an average of 1,434 school bus incidents per school year in Kentucky from 2007-2008 to 2010-2011.
The state broadly tracks “incidents,” which can include anything from a fatal wreck to a bus simply hitting a mailbox.
During that time, two students riding buses were killed.
