An Anderson, S.C., councilman has been named in a wrongful death lawsuit in a wreck that killed a 70-year-old woman.
The Anderson Independent Mail reported Councilman Eddie Moore is being sued for more than $5 million in the 2010 wreck that killed Elizabeth Walsh. She was struck by four vehicles on Nov. 4, 2010.
The driver of the first vehicle that hit Walsh, Jesse Oliver of Iva, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.
Moore says he is not responsible for Walsh’s death. Moore’s vehicle was the second to hit the woman. He said he tried to swerve.
His attorney, David Rheney, says he doesn’t think Moore is responsible.
Coroner Greg Shore said it was impossible to determine which of the four vehicles caused the fatal injuries.
