Mississippi Jury Awards Couple in Accident Case

A Jasper County, Miss., jury has awarded a couple $36 million in lawsuit stemming from a 2010 accident at an oil field.

The Chronicle reports that the jury verdict came Aug. 14. The verdict was recorded in the circuit clerk’s office Monday.

Jack Tanner and his wife sued Eagle Oil and Gas Company and V.A. Sauls Inc. after he was injured in an accident at an oil and natural gas field owned by Eagle Oil in Jasper County.

Tanner was employed by B&B Oil Field Services. He claimed to have suffered some permanent injuries.

The jury assessed 40 percent of the liability to Eagle Oil and 60 percent to V.A. Sauls, the oil field contractor.

Attorneys for Eagle Oil and V.A. Sauls say they will appeal the verdict.
