A former Mississippi insurance agent will serve four years in prison for mail fraud and false pretense.
Attorney General Jim Hood says 45-year-old Elisa Odom of Bailey pleaded guilty Monday in Lauderdale County Circuit Court to five counts of mail fraud and four counts of false pretense.
She was sentenced to serve four years in prison followed by five years of supervised probation. She must also pay full restitution as well as fines and court costs.
Hood says Odom was an agent for Colonial Insurance in the Meridian area at the time of the crimes.
He says Odom wrote fake insurance policies, using both real and fabricated names and addresses, in order to receive commissions from her employer.
