Crews have begun demolishing a dangerous parking garage in Lexington, Ky.
A 7-ton concrete panel fell from the upper deck of the Phoenix garage in May and officials deemed the city-owned garage too dangerous to use and too expensive to fix.
The work, which began Tuesday, will require some limited street and sidewalk closures, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
The demolition is expected to be done by the end of February. The empty lot will then be used for surface parking.
