A student received minor injuries during a chemistry lab explosion inside the University of Florida’s Sisler Hall.
The Orlando Sentinel reports the building will be closed for at least a day following the Wednesday afternoon explosion.
University police say the student was taken to Shands Hospital for evaluation. The building was evacuated after the 5:45 p.m. explosion.
The newspaper reports a hazardous-materials unit from Gainesville Fire Rescue is investigating to find out what kind of chemicals were involved. Officials say the chemicals were toxic.
