A vendor says she was booted from this year’s Mountain State Forest Festival because she was selling jewelry decorated with pictures of marijuana leaves.
Cynthia Mae Husiar of Barboursville is suing the festival in Randolph County Circuit Court. The Inter-Mountain says Husiar’s lawsuit seeks $10,000 in damages, including loss of income.
Husiar filed the lawsuit after she was removed from a festival display at Elkins City Park on Oct. 6. The lawsuit claims festival representatives told Husiar she violated her contract by offering drug paraphernalia for sale.
She says she did not have any drug paraphernalia.
Lawyers for the festival said in a response filed last month that Husiar was asked to leave but they denied the other allegations. They said her jewelry depicted illegal controlled substances.
