Police in Calera, Ala. say two Georgia men are being held on robbery charges in connection with the holdup of a Waffle House there, and investigators say the two may be involved in a two-state crime spree targeting Waffle House restaurants.
Authorities say 21-year-old Edwin Mitchell and 19-year-old DeAngelo Heard are being held in the Shelby County jail. Officers say they made the arrests Saturday morning after responding to a robbery in progress call. Both men are from Ellenwood, Ga.
Police say up to 18 Waffle House restaurants in the Atlanta and LaGrange, Ga. areas have been robbed since July 27.
