Authorities say the AtlantaFresh Artisan Creamery in Norcross is voluntarily recalling 688 pounds of fresh mozzarella sold recently at several farmers’ markets in metro Atlanta.
Georgia Department of Agriculture officials said in a statement Tuesday that the product was inadequately pasteurized.
State officials say the cheese is packaged in an eight-ounce ball with a code date of “Best By 7/16.”
They say it was sold at the Sandy Springs Farmers Market, Alpharetta Farmers Market, Marietta Farmers Market, Peachtree Road Farmers Market, Piedmont Park Farmers Market and at the Grant Park Farmers Market.
State agriculture officials say the problem was discovered during a routine inspection.
