Four Former West Virginia Firefighters Face Arson Charges

March 7, 2011

Four former volunteer firefighters with the Blue Ridge Mountain Fire Co. have been charged with felony arson.

The Journal of Martinsburg reported that the four were arrested last Friday and arraigned in Jefferson County Magistrate Court. The suspects posted bail and were released.

Magistrate Judge Gail Boober said the charges stem from three fires the men allegedly set. She said she knows of no injuries resulting from the alleged arsons.

Blue Ridge Mountain Fire Chief Earl Cogle declined to comment on the case.

The West Virginia State Police’s Charles Town Detachment and the West Virginia Fire Commission’s Office of the State Fire Marshal are handling the investigation.
