A wildfire in central Florida has burned more than 13,000 acres, prompted evacuations and destroyed some structures.
Brevard County spokeswoman Kimberly Prosser said a state of emergency has been declared in the county.
The quick-spreading fire was being fed by 20 mph winds and has destroyed two hunting camps and some mobile homes.
A section of Interstate 95 along Florida’s Space Coast was closed Monday night. Officials also closed U.S. 1.
The fire forced the evacuation of about 20 residences at nearby campgrounds and trailer parks. Also, 1,400 phone numbers in the area received reverse 911 calls suggesting they evacuate.
