A federal judge has appointed Alabama Atttorney General Luther Strange to a key position helping coordinate a mass of litigation concerning damages caused by the BP oil spill.
Hundreds of cases stemming from last summer’s spills have been consolidated before U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier in New Orleans.
Barbier has appointed Strange to be coordinating counsel for the state interests. His duties will include scheduling meetings, appearing at conferences and acting on behalf of the states that are part of the litigation.
