A man has filed a federal lawsuit over his claim that two Russell County, Ala. deputy sheriffs beat him while a Phenix City police officer watched.
Patrick Carlton Harrington is seeking $8 million in the lawsuit, which was filed in Montgomery.
Russell County Sheriff Tommy Boswell previously announced the resignation of the two deputies named in the lawsuit, 42-year-old Tim Watford and 37-year-old Kirby Dollar. Phenix City Police Officer Rachael Hauser is accused of watching the assault and also quit.
Harrington had warrants on charges including theft, drugs and eluding officers and had jumped his bond following a previous arrest. The lawsuit says the three officers were at a party on Nov. 26 when a bondsman called seeking help with the arrest.
