Florida Hospital Sued for Releasing Man Accused of Murder

A Clearwater, Florida hospital is being sued for releasing a man who was later accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend.

The lawsuit was filed last week in Pinellas County by Laura Taft’s family.

Craig Wall was admitted to Morton Plant Hospital on Feb. 6 under the Baker Act. He was interviewed by police in the death of his son with Taft, who was given a domestic violence injunction against Wall.

Wall was notified of the injunction at the hospital.

The lawsuit claims the hospital shouldn’t have released Wall when its staff knew of threats against Taft and that Wall was a suspect in the child’s murder.

A hospital spokeswoman said they had not yet received the lawsuit.

Wall is being held without bond on two first-degree murder charges.
