Officials at a South Carolina university say a fire in a building that featured high-tech classrooms will cost at least $4.5 million to repair.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported that Winthrop University officials said it will cost $1.5 million to stabilize and clean Owens Hall and at least another $3 million to restore the three-story building. Officials said they have insurance.
University officials said estimates of damage to computers and other technology in the 18 classrooms are still being calculated.
Rock Hill fire officials investigating the cause of the March 6 blaze said they think it started accidentally.
