Southwest Florida residents are cleaning up debris after a tornado ripped through the area, damaging about 23 residences.
Cape police spokeswoman Connie Barron says the tornado touched down Sunday afternoon, causing more than $100,000 in damage to 11 of the homes. No injuries were reported, but clean up could take weeks. Roof shingles, pool screens, glass and trash cans littered throughout the neighborhood.
Resident Steven Hill said the tornado flipped over his Honda Civic and left it resting vertically on the side of the family’s home. He said his roof also sustained major damage.
Residents said the tornado was in the area for about four minutes.
