Jurors return to federal court in Frankfort today where two disbarred lawyers are accused of scamming their clients out of millions of dollars in a diet-drug settlement.
Closing arguments wrapped up Wednesday, as a defense lawyer argued his clients were simply following the advice of a nationally known class-action expert. The case was expected to go to the jury Thursday.
William Gallion and Shirley Cunningham Jr. are accused of bilking some 440 clients who had been hurt by the diet drug fen-phen out of their rightful shares of a $200 million legal settlement.
Prosecutors contend Gallion and Cunningham cheated their clients out of $94.6 million.
