Police said a woman in East Point, Ga. tried to set her home on fire while her child and elderly mother were still inside.
Investigators said 40-year-old Doris Williams set mattresses on fire around 9 p.m. on Oct. 20. Her mother and child got out of the home safely.
Officers responding to a call about an intoxicated woman said they saw smoke inside the home. They found Williams a few minutes later.
Officers said she admitted setting the fire and told them she was sick of people in the house.
A police officer who entered the home was treated for smoke inhalation.
Police said Williams was charged with arson and reckless conduct and could face more charges.
