Bail has been denied for a Russellville, Ala. woman who is charged with capital murder in the arson death of her 6-year old son.
Christy Scott, 30, is charged in the death of her son, Mason Scott, in an Aug. 16 fire on Signore Drive in Russellville. Another son, a 4-year-old, escaped the home during the blaze, which was reported to fire officials at 2:20 a.m.
The Alabama State Fire Marshals Office investigated the fire along with the Russellville police and fire departments and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
The case was presented to a grand jury in Franklin County, which returned the indictment, State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk said.
Scott surrendered to Russellville police Sept. 29.
