Feds on Scene of Plane Crash in North Atlanta

Federal investigators are on the scene of an airplane crash in the northern Atlanta suburbs trying to determine what caused the accident.

An investigator from the National Transportation Safety Board is examining debris from the Piper Saratoga PA-32 that crashed Sept. 23 about 20 feet from the front door of a home. Authorities say the pilot was killed in the crash.

The identity of the pilot has not been released.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the plane was headed from DeKalb Peachtree Airport to Coldwater, Mich.

Bergen said the single-engine aircraft is registered to Women’s Medicine Inc. of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., but the company said it recently sold the airplane. She was unsure who now owns the plane.
