West Virginia investigators are still working to determine the cause of a blaze in a historic Welch apartment building that has left dozens homeless.
The fire in the Tyson Towers apartments, located in the old Carter Hotel building, raged from July 25 into July 26.
Violet Lester, who owns the building, said it’s a miracle that no one was seriously injured in the fire. Two people were taken to Welch Community Hospital with minor burns.
About 31 families lived in the apartments. The building also housed four businesses, including the McDowell County Redevelopment Authority.
Fire marshals are still investigating the damage to the building and looking for a cause.
