An east Alabama man has started serving a 10-year prison sentence for a rash of church arsons in two counties earlier this year.
Russell County District Attorney Buster Landreau on July 22 said 21-year-old Geoffrey Tyler Parquette of Smiths agreed to expedite the handling of his case. Parquette pleaded guilty last month, and records show he is currently in Kilby prison near Montgomery.
Co-defendant James Scott Clark awaits trial on arson and burglary charges.
The charges stem from fires and break-ins at four churches around New Year’s. Authorities said the two suspects described themselves as satan worshippers.
