Likely she had travel health insurance which required he be stablized and sent back to his home province for care. This is generally written into the wordings to stop the Insurer from paying for surgery, recuperation in the “out of province” hospital and the wife’s expenses to remain at his side. As soon as they are in their home province (not ncecessarily home town) The travel health insurance company is off the hook for any more medical and extra expenses. The travel company would likely have been the one to pay for flight home as well.
