Train Collides with Truck Stuck on Tracks in Tennessee

A train collided with a tractor-trailer carrying hardwood flooring in Tennessee’s Northeast Knox County. No one was injured.

Authorities say the Norfolk Southern train struck the tractor-trailer Monday around 8 a.m.

The truck driver, 34-year-old Derell Parker, says his truck bottomed out and got stuck on the crossing.

Parkey says he called his company, Wiley Sanders Truck Lines Inc. out of Troy, Ala, which called a crew to get the truck off the tracks.

After exiting the truck, he says an eastbound train plowed into the vehicle.

Norfolk Southern officials say the train’s operator was able to get the 103-car train to slow down before the collision.

Railroad officials say the accident delayed at least five trains waiting for the track to clear.
