Officials say a strong storm tore through suburban Atlanta last week, ripping the roof off a grocery store and sending trees crashing onto homes.
Douglas County spokesman Wes Tallon says an employee at the Kroger outside Douglasville, Ga., broke an arm when the store’s walls and ceiling collapsed during the March 7 storm. Weather officials say the storm only lasted 10 minutes, but it was enough time to shatter windows, damage roofs and vehicles.
The storm system weakened as it traveled in a northeastern direction across the state, said Shirley Lamback with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
