North Carolina Department of Insurance officials arrested a Lumberton, N.C., man on one count of insurance fraud earlier this month.
After being indicted by the Robeson County Grand Jury on Nov. 13, Brandon Lee Stone, 31, was arrested on Nov. 16 and processed at the Robeson County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond, according to Insurance Commissioner Jim Long.
Department of Insurance investigators allege that Stone’s vehicle sustained minor damage during a June car crash, but he then caused additional damage to his vehicle before meeting with an insurance claims adjuster. Stone’s insurance claim related to the actual crash, allegedly inflated due to the additional damage, netted more than $6,700.
