again, i standby the comments i made. i work for as an insurance agent for a big company. so i understand the terms of a contract and what can be covered. but in fact, it’s like looking at the preamble of the constitution. its the intent or spirit of that preamble that give meaning as a whole. same with contracts! today’s society is so much into being nit picky on every detail instead of being that great neighbor or good friend. society is chasing the money instead of lending a hand. society is more interested in blaming others, instead of taking the responsibility of the blame/incident. so instead of putting each other down, let’s pick each other up. same with insurance, afterall, is that what we are supposed to do? remember, we provide a service that was paid for in advance.

What is needed is more enforcement in curbing unscrupulous contractors after a storm.

    Agreed.

I’ve seen both local contractors AND temporary contractors take unfair advantage of others after an “event”.

I believe in Texas, and in some other parts of the nation, ones are testing the legal waters in regards to having law enforcement involvement when agents are suspect of keeping premiums.

It seems that the legal principles behind those legal actions can easily be adapted towards helping to keep in check unscrupulous contractor, insurer and adjuster conduct.
