Because insurance professional or any professional for that matter should not be swayed or influenced by compassion or feelings when doing our job. To me, that’s for outside of work. If you want to be touchy feely on the job then become a catholic priest.

Interesting conversation but pure speculation until the investigation determines the root cause of this accident. Nobody should lose life or limb on an amusement ride. However, accidents do happen regardless of the best preventive measures/design. Unfortunately, in our society, SOMEBODY MUST PAY. Six Flags is a reputable organization and I suspect licensing, inspections, and maintenance were all in order. It will be interesting to find out if there were other passengers seated next to the victim. If there were, why weren’t they injured also? Could the victim have been fooling around, dangling her feet outside the ride? Stay tuned.

Your comment about becoming a Catholic priest is unprofessional, insensitive and libelous. Your comment shows that you are very naive to believe that “touchy, feely” is only shown by Catholic priests or incredibly ignorant.

Ha Ha, Marie. I think he gotcha! You proved his point, which was that people cannot look at a situation objectively when it involves children (born, unborn or somewhere in between) or animals.

Oh the sting of sarcasm! How true thy aim!

Where did I say anything about children (born, unborn or somewhere in between)? Please re-read my posting. I was addressing a spurious comment made against a specific religion.

O, the sting of not understanding what one has read.

Why don’t folks remember that this is to be an ‘insurance’ forum and stick to the facts or information in the article or situation rather than go on the attack of one another?

    Why??? I’ll tell ya why.

Because we work in a rather dull industry and every once in a while it might be good to spice it up with a little jazz.

If this is the same type of ride I took my son on at the Louisiana World’s Fair, it is a pretty dangerous ride without the cable. My son was 6 years old, and when the ride came down, thankfully I realized he was sliding out of the seat and grabbed him.

For all of the action and adventure we’re looking for, it would appear we are putting ourselves at risk in these things. It surprises me that the people at the amusement parks can afford the insurance.

Go get a life. Send a donation to your local childrens hospital. Do more good at home.
