    An exerpt from a LegalNewsLine.com story…

“And dollars find a way to mix with politics. In fact, the three trial lawyers hired by Hood to help represent the state in the lawsuit were all contributors to his campaign in 2003.”

I have read the State Farm self serving response which has no rebuttal of the facts. I made a special point to get to look at the “new” correspondence sent out by State Farm, The first letter sent out was postmarked May 08, 2007 (4 months after the agreement) and amounted to nothing more than a non-waiver requiring the insured to sign and ask for the “re-evaluation.” Like these people have been waiting 1 1/2 years with no offer and now they would not want to hear an offer? The response to the returned non-waiver was dated June 06, 2007 and was a bare bones minimum offer, on only the dwelling, with a release attached. Some have not received the original offer yet as they are slab cases and State Fram continues to send correspondence to a vacant lot! Why no offer for Other Structures, Personal Property, or ALE? Why drag out what could be done in one corespondence into two that drags out the process for over one month more?

And I know you would just look in the yellow pages and use a lawyer you never heard of and don’t know at all. I do know one of the attorneys the AG picked (had casualty cases with him) and he is a fighter for his clients and competent. Remember Scruggs was raised with the prior attorney general and see what happened with the tobacco companies. You are going to suggest Sruggs didn’t perform well just b/c he was raised with Mike Moore?

State Farm has even breached the contract of its own agents (Case #C050591 Calif. Third Appellate District) and the decision is final as the Calif. Supreme Court has refused to hear State Farm’s appeal. This was final in approximately April 2007 but State Farm has yet to notify all of their agents of this legal defeat. If State Farm won’t honor the contract of their own agents what chance does an average policyholder have?

Sounds like we will be hearing a lot about SF! They give the media something to talk about! Everyday you read about a suit against SF!

We all know Hood is another Mike Nifong. Anything he has to say about SF or any other insurer is more electioneering than about what’s right.

our society today, lawyers, & businesspeople are often more concerned about what they can get away with than what is fair. Misuse of power like that upsets me! They say it’s all “business”. They take away the personal values of honesty and integrity and show no mercy except maybe some token political correctness. It’s time for people who have been taken advantage of to get honest attention
Keep State Farm ,s Fraud in the News!!! So much for the Law of the Land.. Will we all look away?????

State Farm, Allstate and USAA all said they give homeowners an opportunity to fix problems but added that in the most severe cases, customers could be denied coverage if they don’t comply.

“What do you do if that property’s not yours? If they’re demanding a 200-foot clearance, what if you own only 150 feet beyond your house?” said Karen Reimus, a San Diego attorney whose home burned in 2003.

With claims from Hurricane Katrina largely resolved, State Farm Fire & Casualty Co. saw profits climb 65 percent last year to $5.3 billion, while Allstate raked in profits of $5 billion.

The companies are the nation’s first- and second-largest property-casualty insurers, respectively.

An industry analyst said the inspections fit into the larger shift by insurers away from catastrophe-prone areas after the devastating 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons.

“The hurricane seasons were huge, huge wake-up calls in terms of insurers realizing that they did not understand the risks that they had put on their books,” said Donald Light, a senior analyst with Boston-based Celent. “Many insurers have been doing a lot of things to readjust that balance, and wildfires are a part of that picture.” On and on. Have no more of this bull!!!!

I live west of I-95 and have never filed a claim in my 21 years with State Farm. I just received my new homeowners invoice for $6609, a 102% increase over last year! I got the typical BS from my agent but the fact remains that they made and are making record profits. I classify them to be just as greedy as the “oil companies.” They get reinsurance from their own central company (talk about double dipping their profits) and then have the gall to say their reinsurance costs are up… At least Jessie James used a gun!
