You can go to the Fl Dept of Financial Services web site regarding this liquidation and get a lot of information. The issue of unearned premium refunds can be found at :

The General FDFS page regarding American Superior can be located at:

This page has links to a ton of good information, especially your agent’s responsibilities under Fl Statute 631.341(2)

When I called the Division of Rehabilitation and Liquidation, I was told that even after the $100 “deductible,” we may not be refunded dollar for dollar for unearned premiums and the process may take over a year.

Does anyone have any other ideas for remedies?

We paid $760.00 on Oct. 22nd for coverage from 11/02/04 thru 11/02/05. Will there be any refund of that amount or any chance of it being applied to North Pointe? And I was given NO notice of financial problems at American Superior!

North Pointe has taken it upon themselves to issue policies without the recipients authorization. When my American Superior policy expired I purchased my own insurance at a cost almost half of North Pointe for the same coverage. Now North Pointe has sent me a policy for which I never subscribed, signed for or authorized. Who has issued them this license to go into my escrow account and steal my funds???

My guess is that your mortage holder was not notified of your new coverage and did what they thought you neglected to do. I believe mortage contracts allow this. If you show proof of coverage they should be able to cancel this policy and. hopefully, get you a full refund.

I’m sure that all of us that still need coverage would consider you a hero if you could tell us where you were able to get yours. My agent says that North Point is the only option (other than Citizens) for people that were candelled by American Superion. Thanks Norm

I was told it could be 6 months before a refund would be forthcoming.
