Residents and business owners in the 28 disaster-declared South Carolina counties who sustained damage from the multiple storms that began Sept. 6 and continued through Oct. 11 have only one month remaining to apply for disaster recovery assistance.
Dec. 6 is the last day registrations will be accepted for recovery assistance. Loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for disaster-related losses to real and personal property must also be submitted by that date.
“We want people to understand that this is merely a registration deadline,” said Michael Bolch, federal coordinating officer. “For individuals who have already applied, their cases will continue to be processed. New registrations will not be accepted after the December 6 deadline.”
To date, 4,772 individuals have applied for disaster assistance. More than $2,785,400 in federal and state grants has been approved for individuals impacted by the disaster in addition to more than $16, 900 in low-interest disaster loans from the SBA.
