A state report says a propane leak led to a home explosion last year in Victoria in which a 26-year-old woman was killed but her infant daughter survived.
The Victoria Advocate reports that the Texas Railroad Commission found that two manual valves to the pipes supplying propane to the fireplace were in the open position, and a switch controlling a third valve from inside the house also was on.
Haley Singer died in the May explosion that damaged homes a quarter of a mile away. Her daughter, treated for small cuts, turned 1 on Thursday.
Victoria County Fire Marshal Ron Pray is still investigating but has ruled out that the explosion was intentional.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office has listed the cause of the explosion as undetermined.
