The family of a U.S. senator whose son was killed in a plane crash is seeking damages in a lawsuit that alleges negligence against the aircraft’s manufacturers.
The Tulsa World reports the suit was filed in Tulsa County District Court. It claims the 2013 crash that killed 51-year-old Perry Dyson Inhofe II was due to manufacturers not providing proper maintenance on the plane’s engine and its parts.
Inhofe, a licensed pilot, is the son of U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe.
The suit names Honeywell International Inc., Standard Aero, Standard Aero (Alliance) Inc. and International Jet Service Corp. as defendants.
International Jet Service declined to comment. Messages were left with representatives for the other companies.
A National Transportation Safety Board report on the accident says the younger Inhofe didn’t “appropriately manage” the aircraft when one of its engines shut down.
