A Southeast Texas woman has dropped her lawsuit seeking up to $1 million from neighbors whose beagle was killed by her four pit bulls.
The settlement ends legal disputes involving Emerald White and Steve and Tiffany Baker, all of Texas City.
White last month sued the Bakers alleging she was seriously hurt trying to stop the Oct. 27 attack and retrieve her pit bulls, who got through a fence to reach the beagle.
The Bakers then sought legal sanctions against White, saying her lawsuit was frivolous and noting her pit bulls were declared dangerous and vicious under a Texas City ordinance. Such a designation requires the posting of signs, fences and liability coverage.
The couple’s request for sanctions was dropped as part of court documents made public Monday.
