A central Texas official has paid settlements to two Travis County workers after they said his dog bit them.
Travis County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Glenn Bass is running for re-election next month. The Austin American-Statesman reports he often brought his Maltese dog named Justice to work with him.
In 2011, Danny Villegas said Justice bit him when he was delivering paperwork to Bass’ office. He received $1,600 from Bass’ insurance company the following year.
After the incident, Bass said he put Justice on a leash and put a pet gate in his office. In 2013, Justice bit another worker while outside of the justice of the peace office building. Bass said he paid her $10,000 in damages.
Bass said he gave Justice away to friends, though he still visits the dog.
