Arkansas Authorities Search for Stolen Rescue Truck

Authorities in western Arkansas are looking for a search-and-rescue truck stolen from the Northwest Scott County Volunteer Fire Department over the weekend.

The Southwest Times Record reports the truck was purchased with a federal grant and is valued at $120,000. It’s the only rescue vehicle in the area with the Jaws of Life, which are used to help get people out of cars after accidents.

Fire Chief Donnie Adkins says the truck was last seen driving through Witcherville north toward Fort Smith early Saturday morning. It has a lime green stripe on the side and the department’s logo, an alien holding a fire hose, on the hood.

The truck only had about 85 miles to go before it needed fuel, so he’s hoping surveillance footage from gas stations might help find it.
