As storm season ramps up in Oklahoma, a nonprofit group formed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina is teaming with a national insurance company to help better prepare communities for the recovery after a natural disaster.
The St. Bernard Project and Farmers Insurance are distributing their Disaster Recovery Playbook to cities and towns across the country.
The goal is to share some of the best practices that were learned by communities hit hard by devastating natural disasters, like the 2012 tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri, and Hurricane Katrina that battered New Orleans in 2005.
The residential recovery guide is designed to help cities and towns recover more quickly.
