A Houston-area insurance agent whose company included the word “integrity” in its name has been sentenced to four years in prison for stealing from about 40 clients.
A judge in Galveston on Monday sentenced Christopher Vernon Murphy in a plea agreement and ordered him to repay about $75,000. Investigators say Murphy pleaded guilty to theft in fraud cases since May 2010.
Prosecutor Robert Buss says Murphy operated a League City business called Integrity Insurance Agency. Buss says Murphy received payments for Texas Windstorm insurance from his clients but kept the money instead of forwarding it along.
