Michelle Gonzales has been named director of floodplain management and hazard mitigation for Jefferson Parish, La.
The appointment was made by parish President John Young.
Gonzales previously served as a hazard mitigation liaison in the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
In her new role, she will work with floodplain management and hazard mitigation grant programs in Jefferson and also be the parish’s liaison to federal and state agencies and officials.
Her appointment is subject to approval of the Parish Council.
