State police say workers have now moved about 2 million pounds of explosives that were discovered to be improperly stored at a northern Louisiana industrial site.
That would leave an estimated 4 million pounds still to be moved at the Explo Systems Inc. site at Camp Minden. A voluntary evacuation remains in effect for the nearby town of Doyline through Thursday and may be extended.
Authorities have said the material, including an artillery shell propellant known as M6, was found last week. Some of it was stuffed into corridors that connect storage buildings. Some was left in the open. Company officials have not commented.
Thursday was the fifth day of the operation to safely remove the material and place it in approved storage magazines at the site.
