School Bus Changes Made at Louisiana High School

September 28, 2012

Louisiana’s Lafayette High School has made several changes in the way buses run to keep students safe. The changes come after the Sept. 20 accident in which a student was struck by a bus.

The Advertiser reports school system officials met with bus drivers and administrators to address the problems in the bus loading area and develop solutions.

Bill Samec, director of transportation, said the changes include allowing buses to load and leave the campus in the afternoon before any students who drive themselves or walk from school can leave.

LHS Principal Patrick Leonard said administrators are also making sure that all students have a full seven minutes to get from the school onto their buses and that buses are not running while they are waiting for students.
