Five people were killed over a two-day period after two instances of suspected drunken drivers going the wrong way on Texas’ Interstate 45 near The Woodlands.
The Houston Chronicle reports that three others, including the two suspected drunken drivers, were hospitalized.
Trooper Erik Burse with the Department of Public Safety, which is investigating both incidents, says there is nothing confusing or problematic with the signs, markings or roads in that portion of the freeway.
The wreck Sunday morning left a 47-year-old passenger of the suspected drunk driver and two women in the car that driver hit – a 27-year-old and a 25-year-old – dead.
Friday morning, a 23-year-old woman driving a pickup going the wrong way hit another car, killing that vehicle’s 23-year-old female driver and a male passenger.
