One man has been injured while conducting high-pressure testing on equipment at an oil and natural gas services plant in El Reno.
Fire Department Capt. Chris Denny says firefighters were notified about 9 p.m. Tuesday of the accident at the Weatherford Artificial Lift Systems facility. Denny says the call came in as an explosion, but no blast or fire occurred.
Denny says the man was conducting high-pressure testing a fracturing device when a jolt of water hit him as it came out of the line. Fracturing is a process used in natural gas extraction.
Denny says the man was transported by medical helicopter to an Oklahoma City hospital. He was conscious but his medical condition wasn’t known and his name wasn’t immediately released.
Other employees at the site weren’t hurt.
