Former Houston receiver Patrick Edwards has settled his lawsuit over breaking his leg when he ran into a metal cart during a 2008 game at Marshall.
His attorney, S. Scott West, on Monday told KRIV-TV that details of the settlement are confidential. Edwards in 2010 sued Marshall, Conference USA and a referee in a negligence lawsuit filed in West Virginia.
Edwards suffered a compound fracture and had to have a rod inserted in his lower right leg. He alleged the playing field was unsafe when he ran into a metal service cart while going for a pass.
Edwards, who in December was named CUSA offensive player of the year, says he’s happy to put the case behind him. He’s hoping for an NFL career and appeared Monday before scouts.
