The American Red Cross and local officials estimate that more than 1,200 homes in five Louisiana parishes received some degree of flood-related damage from heavy rains last week.
Some of the heaviest damage was seen in northern Lafayette Parish and southern St. Landy Parish.
In Carencro, an estimated 454 residences took on water, said Carencro City Manager Jay Castille.
The Advocate reports that in rural areas of northern Lafayette Parish outside of Carencro, about 390 homes were affected, according to figures from city-parish government.
The water had yet to recede Saturday in some areas in the northeastern corner of Lafayette Parish.
