Officials say three Oklahoma City middle students who were injured when they got stuck underneath an elevator are in good condition.
School District spokeswoman Tierney Tinnin says officials were notified about 11:20 a.m. Tuesday that two seventh graders and one sixth-grade student at the Classen School for Advance Studies somehow got under the elevator on the first floor and were trapped for about 35 minutes.
Tinnin says officials don’t know yet how they got under the elevator.
Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman Lara O’Leary says as the girls, ages 12 and 13, were in the shaft, the elevator began lowering onto them. O’Leary says they got down on their stomachs, which kept the girls from being crushed.
O’Leary says the girls were in good condition at an Oklahoma City hospital.
