Bulldozers will be used in an effort to fully extinguish a smoldering grass fire in northeast Oklahoma City.
Deputy Fire Chief Marc Woodard said Thursday that the bulldozers will be used to open access to heavily wooded areas where hot spots threaten to re-ignite. He said they will also be used to create a fire break of dirt that would help stop the spread of any fire that re-ignites.
Woodard said the fire is contained after burning an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 acres and destroying more than 30 homes since it began Tuesday afternoon.
